Glasses Warranty Policy

Eyewear Warranty & Remake Policy

At Ocean Eyecare, we stand behind the quality of the eyewear we provide and are committed to providing excellent service to our patients. Our warranty and remake policies are designed to ensure that you receive quality eyewear while also establishing clear guidelines regarding repairs, adjustments, prescription changes, and accidental damage.

1. Frame & Lens Warranty

Frames:
Frames purchased from Ocean Eyecare are covered by a 6-month warranty against manufacturing defects. The warranty does not cover accidental damage, misuse, abuse, normal wear and tear, scratches, loss, or damage caused by improper care or handling.

If a frame is determined to have a manufacturing defect during the 6-month warranty period, Ocean Eyecare will work with the patient and/or manufacturer to determine the appropriate repair or replacement solution.

Prescription Lenses:

Prescription lenses are custom-made specifically for each patient and are non-refundable once the lenses have been manufactured.

Certain lens products may include a manufacturer's scratch warranty. Prescription lenses with Crizal® anti-reflective coating and Transitions® lenses may be covered by a 1- to 2-year scratch warranty, depending on the specific lens brand and product purchased.

The applicable warranty period is determined by the manufacturer's warranty for the specific lens product. Warranty coverage is subject to the manufacturer's terms and conditions and may require inspection and approval.

The scratch warranty does not cover damage resulting from improper cleaning, abrasive materials, chemicals, excessive heat, accidental damage, misuse, or other conditions excluded by the manufacturer's warranty.

2. Prescription Lenses — No Refunds

Prescription lenses are custom-made specifically for each patient and are non-refundable once the lenses have been manufactured.

Because prescription lenses are individually fabricated according to the patient's prescription and selected lens design, we cannot provide refunds for lenses once they have been made.

Before ordering lenses, patients are encouraged to review and confirm their prescription, lens design, material, coatings, and other lens options with our optical team.

3. One-Time Prescription Change — 90 Days

If you experience difficulty adapting to your new prescription, or if your prescription needs to be changed, Ocean Eyecare offers one prescription change/remake within 90 days of the original dispensing date, subject to the following conditions:

  • The request must be made within 90 days of dispensing.
  • The prescription change must be approved by the prescribing doctor.
  • The remake applies to the lenses and does not constitute a refund.
  • The replacement lenses will be made according to the new prescription.
  • This is a one-time prescription change/remake.
  • Additional prescription changes or remakes may be subject to additional charges.

This policy does not cover changes requested solely because of a change in personal preference regarding lens design, material, coating, or other options originally selected, unless otherwise approved by Ocean Eyecare.

4. Accidental Damage

Accidental damage is not covered under the standard warranty.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Sitting or stepping on glasses
  • Dropping, crushing, bending, or twisting the glasses
  • Damage caused by pets or children
  • Damage caused by improper handling
  • Scratched or chipped lenses resulting from accidental damage
  • Damage caused by exposure to excessive heat
  • Damage caused by chemicals or improper cleaning products
  • Lost or stolen eyewear
  • Damage resulting from unauthorized repairs or modifications

If your glasses are accidentally damaged, we will be happy to inspect them and discuss available repair or replacement options and associated costs.

5. Scratches & Normal Wear

Scratches are not automatically covered under warranty. Coverage for lens scratches is limited to products that carry a manufacturer's scratch warranty, as described above.

Normal wear and tear is not covered. This may include minor cosmetic wear, discoloration, loose screws, worn nose pads, and other changes resulting from regular use.

We recommend storing your glasses in their protective case when not being worn and cleaning lenses only with appropriate lens cleaner and a clean microfiber cloth.

6. Frame Adjustments & Repairs

Complimentary adjustments are available for eyewear purchased from Ocean Eyecare.

Our optical team will make every reasonable effort to properly adjust and maintain eyewear purchased from our office.

However, frames can become fragile due to age, previous repairs, repeated adjustments, material deterioration, or damage. Ocean Eyecare cannot guarantee that an older or previously damaged frame can be safely adjusted without risk of breakage.

Ocean Eyecare is not responsible for damage that occurs to a frame during an adjustment or repair when the frame is not in suitable condition for adjustment.

7. Eyewear Purchased Elsewhere

We are happy to assist whenever possible; however, eyewear purchased from another optical provider is not covered by Ocean Eyecare's warranty.

Adjustments or repairs to outside eyewear are performed at the discretion of Ocean Eyecare and as a courtesy when our schedule and circumstances permit.

Because we cannot verify the age, materials, condition, previous repairs, or history of eyewear purchased elsewhere, we cannot guarantee that an outside frame can be safely adjusted or repaired.

Ocean Eyecare is not responsible for damage, breakage, or deterioration that occurs during an attempted adjustment or repair of eyewear not purchased from our office.

8. Manufacturer Warranty

Certain frames, lenses, coatings, and other optical products may have separate manufacturer's warranties. Manufacturer warranties vary by product and may have different terms, exclusions, and time limits.

When applicable, Ocean Eyecare will assist with submitting a qualifying warranty claim to the manufacturer.

Manufacturer approval is required when the manufacturer's warranty applies.

9. Warranty Evaluation

All warranty and remake requests must be evaluated by Ocean Eyecare.

A warranty does not automatically guarantee a replacement. The eyewear must be inspected to determine whether the issue is the result of a manufacturing defect, normal wear, accidental damage, improper care, or another cause.

If the original product is discontinued or unavailable, Ocean Eyecare will discuss available alternatives.

10. Patient Responsibility

Patients are responsible for following the recommended care and handling instructions provided with their eyewear.

Proper care includes:

  • Using both hands when removing glasses
  • Storing glasses in their case when not in use
  • Cleaning lenses with approved lens cleaner and a microfiber cloth
  • Avoiding excessive heat, such as leaving glasses in a hot vehicle
  • Avoiding contact with household cleaners, chemicals, and abrasive materials
  • Having adjustments and repairs performed by qualified optical professionals

We will always do our best to help resolve concerns with eyewear purchased from Ocean Eyecare. If you experience a problem with your glasses, please contact us promptly so that we can evaluate the issue and determine the appropriate solution.
